CHINA-PAKISTAN ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY COOPERATION

Abstract

As a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative, C-Pac is an excellent manifestation of the China-Pakistan Four Seasons Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation. The project is based on the principles of broad consultation, shared partnership and shared benefits, which is currently entering a new phase of high quality development. Significant progress has been made that the first hydroelectric project, the Krut hydropower plant, has started storing water. 95% of the construction work of this project has been completed and 720 MW of electricity will be generated from its completion. This power plant is located on the river Jhelum in Punjab. According to the plan, the Krut hydroelectric power plant will start generating electricity by the middle of next year.
